Volunteers’ Week: The Value of Showing Up

By Good Fundraising

Volunteers are at the heart of so many of the organisations we work with.

Whether they’re welcoming people through the door, supporting fundraising events, sharing professional expertise as trustees, helping deliver services, or simply turning up whenever they’re needed, volunteers make an enormous difference every single day.

One of the things we love most about working in the charity sector is seeing the commitment people bring to causes they care about. Time is precious, and volunteers choose to give theirs to help others, strengthen communities, and support organisations to achieve more than they could alone.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside charities supported by hundreds of volunteers. We’ve seen the impact they have, not just on the organisations they support, but on the people those organisations exist to help.

Volunteers rarely seek recognition. They just get on with it. But Volunteers’ Week gives us a chance to pause and say thank you.

Thank you for the hours you give.

Thank you for the skills and experience you share.

Thank you for the enthusiasm, encouragement, and support you bring.

And thank you for helping charities across the UK to continue to make a difference in their communities.

As a team, we’ve also had opportunities to volunteer ourselves over the years, supporting a variety of causes and community projects. Those experiences have only reinforced our appreciation for the dedication shown by volunteers everywhere.

So, this Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebration all those who give their time to help others.

The charity sector simply wouldn’t be the same without you.
