St George’s Community Centre

St. George’s is a community anchor organisation based in Lupset, a large social housing estate in Wakefield facing significant social and economic challenges. It provides a welcoming, inclusive space for local people, offering community facilities and operating four childcare settings across the city.

For over 28 years, the charity has worked to improve life chances on the Lupset estate, supporting community wellbeing and connection. Despite high levels of deprivation and increasing pressures on families and young people, St. George’s takes a relational approach that recognises and nurtures the strengths within individuals and the wider community.

Good Fundraising has supported St. George’s through the development of a funding strategy and in securing income through bid-writing. A major Reaching Communities grant has provided support to Youth Services and volunteering whilst a Lottery Awards for All application was secured to refurbish the centre’s kitchen. We continue to work with the team on further fundraising opportunities and trust funding applications to sustain and grow their vital services
