The Museums Association 2024 was a fantastic hub for fresh ideas and exciting discussions. If you’re inspired to bring any of these ideas to life, we’d be delighted to support you with your fundraising needs – get in touch and let’s make it happen!
We are thrilled to have recently hosted a stand at the Museums Association Conference 2024, held at the iconic Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. This year’s conference celebrated the innovation, creativity and inventiveness that make museums such inspiring spaces. It also embraced the theme The Joy of Museums, which highlights how museums serve as spaces of identity, belonging, and social cohesion, contributing to education, community spirit, and are a key part of our social infrastructure. The opening reception at Leeds Art Gallery was a fabulous start, offering a chance to connect with new and familiar faces, surrounded by incredible British Art and the inspiring Stuart Croft exhibition.
Day 1 of the Conference was a massive success. As proud sponsors of this incredible event, we had the opportunity to engage with many inspiring individuals from across the museum sector. The day was filled with insightful talks, thought-provoking discussions, and opportunities to share ideas and explore new approaches for the future of museums.
Day 2 brought a fantastic mix of inspiring sessions and meaningful conversations. We delved into how museums can drive social change, promote accessibility, and build resilience, with sessions on climate justice, wellbeing, and creating inclusive spaces. The day concluded on a high note with a closing party at Leeds City Museum, an unforgettable celebration of community and connection.
The Conference wrapped up with fascinating behind-the-scenes tours at Leeds City Museum, Thackray Museum of Medicine, and Leeds Discovery Centre. These tours offered insight into key exhibitions, the preparation and consultation involved in setting up new exhibitions, and the behind-the-scenes efforts in caring for museum collections. It was a fabulous end to a great few days!
The closing address touched on the theme of Uncertain Futures and the challenges museums face in income generation and financial security. At Good Fundraising, we are here to help address these challenges by offering support and solutions to strengthen financial resilience within the sector.
During the Conference, we also ran a Yorkshire Heritage Hamper giveaway. Attendees simply needed to hand over their business card to enter. After the event, all names were placed into a randomiser, and a winner was selected for this wonderful prize. We are pleased to announce that the winner is Steve Marsden. The hamper will shortly be delivered to the lucky recipient, who is sure to enjoy all the local delights it has to offer, so look out for photos!
The Conference may be over, but the possibilities it sparked are just beginning. Let’s collaborate and turn these incredible ideas into reality – reach out to us today!
