Howlands (Dewsbury District League of Friendship)
We have been helping the Howlands (Dewsbury District League of Friendship) since 2014 and we are really proud of the way we have helped them undertake a massive refurbishment project and also raise funds to keep their much-needed activities running. This involved securing over £450,000 from the Big Lottery. The Howlands support vulnerable adults with physical, learning and sensory disabilities and those with mental health issues, often worsened by loneliness and isolation. With the help of volunteers and carers, they provide daily sessions based around socialising, art, craft and physical activities in a friendly, comfortable environment. The refurbished building provides a wonderful environment for the activities to take place. During the pandemic we also helped them to secure funding that ensured that they would make it through the crisis whilst sessions were put on hold and the centre was shut. We love our work with the Howlands and look forward to the next chapter in their journey.
