From Bids to Fjords: Cath’s Solo Gutsy Girls Adventure in Norway

By Good Fundraising

Our Bid Writing Lead, Cath, recently swapped funding applications for fresh air and adventure, taking on a solo four-night trip to Norway with Gutsy Girls, and what a reset it turned out to be.

The trip kicked off with a hike to the iconic Pulpit Rock, a climb that rewards you with one of the most breathtaking views in the world. After taking it all in, the day ended in true Scandinavian style, with a fjord dip followed by a warming sauna, the perfect mix of challenge and calm.

Next came a journey across the fjords, combining driving and ferry travel to reach the stunning Sirdal Mountain Range. Here, Cath experienced snowshoeing through untouched landscapes, something completely different from day-to-day life, and a reminder of the value in stepping outside your comfort zone.

The final activity day brought a real highlight, kayaking along the fjord in total stillness. Not another person in sight, just nature at its best. Along the way, Cath spotted eagles soaring overhead and seals surfacing nearby, moments that simply cannot be replicated. With expert guidance from Nordic Paddling, the experience was made even more special, from learning new skills to sharing stories around a fire at lunch.

Trips like this are a powerful reminder that taking time to recharge is not a luxury, it is essential. Whether it is climbing mountains or just stepping away from the desk, those moments of clarity and perspective often come back with us, shaping how we approach both our work and the causes we support.
