Arts Council Museum Transformation Programme Opening September
The Arts Council England Museum Transformation Programme is now open, with applications closing at 12pm on 30 September 2026.
This is a major funding opportunity for accredited museums looking to strengthen their long-term sustainability and make meaningful changes to how they operate. Grants of £50,000 to £1 million are available to support transformation work that helps museums become more resilient, efficient and better connected to their communities.
The focus is on whole organisation change rather than standalone projects. Successful applications will show how museums are adapting their structures, systems and ways of working to support long-term stability, from governance and staffing through to digital systems, audience development and income generation.
There is a strong emphasis on building financial resilience, including developing more sustainable operating models and diversifying income streams. This can include investing in fundraising development, including external expertise to help strengthen applications and income generation.
Eligible activity could include digital transformation such as CRM or data systems, restructuring teams and leadership, improving how spaces and buildings are used, developing partnerships, and strengthening approaches to income generation and fundraising.
At Good Fundraising, we support museums to turn complex transformation programmes into clear, competitive applications. That includes shaping the narrative, strengthening the funding case, and providing hands-on bid writing and fundraising strategy support to improve success rates.
If you’re considering applying ahead of the 30 September 2026 deadline, get in touch with us to see how we can support your application from the start and help you make the strongest possible case for investment.
