Wellbeing at the Core

By Good Fundraising

Prioritising your health and wellbeing is essential – especially in the fundraising sector, where the work can often be high-pressure, fast-paced, and emotionally demanding. Taking time to rest, recharge, and care for your physical and mental health isn’t just beneficial for you – it helps you bring your best self to the incredible work you do each day. Whether it’s going for a walk, taking up a new hobby, or simply setting aside quiet time to unwind, making your wellbeing a priority should never be seen as a luxury, but as a necessity.

It’s been inspiring to see members of our team leading by example when it comes to looking after their health while supporting good causes. Gillian, our Charity Management Lead, took part in the 31 Miles for Dementia UK challenge – but added her own twist. Rather than completing 31 miles total, she walked 31 different 3-mile routes every day for a month, totalling over 93 miles! Her dedication and creativity not only helped her stay active but also raised over £900 for Dementia UK – a brilliant achievement for a very worthy cause.

Cath, our Bid-Writing Lead, has also been embracing the great outdoors in a big way. In May, she walked The Herriot Way – 52 miles over four days through the Yorkshire Dales, taking in Aysgarth, Hawes, Keld, Reeth, and back again. This scenic route is steeped in the charm of the James Herriot books and TV series. In June, she took on a weekend of walking and cycling in Kirkby Stephen, covering 77 miles on two wheels, including the iconic Cote de Buttertubs climb, and completed a stunning circular walk to Cautley Spout, England’s highest above-ground waterfall. And to top it off, she even squeezed in a day of paddleboarding along the River Wharfe from Wetherby to Linton and back. Talk about finding balance through adventure!
